I have been training since April with the help of my brother Derek. He has been coaching me and giving me weekly workouts. He helped me go through the calendar to plan out what races I was going to do to help me prepare for my first half marathon. Right now I am running 6 days a week. Here is my weekly schedule:
7/4-7/10
M: 7 miles w/4 mile race
T: 4 recovery
W: 6 easy w/strides
Th: 1.5 wu, 5 @7:50 average. 1 mile cd
Fri: off
Sat: 10 at Granada with 32nd street hill twice
Sun: elliptical 30 min
7/11-7/17
M: 5 easy
T: 1.5 wu, 2 miles @8:05-8:10, 2 min jog, 2 miles @ 8:05-8:10, 2 min jog, 1 mile 8:05-8:10, 1 mile cd
W: 4 easy
Th: 2 wu, 6 x 1 min on/off with "on" @ 5k pace, 2 miles cd
Fri: off
Sat: 11 @ South Mountain
Sun: Elliptical 30 min
7/18-7/24
M:5 in Flagstaff
T: 4 easy
W: 1.5 wu, 5 x 1 mile 7:35-7:40 w/2 min stationary rest, 1 cd
Th: 4 easy
F: off
S: 11 w/last 3 close to 8:00, run first 8 comfortably then start at 8:15 and work way down to 8:00
Sun: 30 min elliptical
7/25-7/31
M:5 easy
T: 2 wu, 6 x 800 @ 7:25 w/2 min jog, 2 cd
W: Track workout with Team Sole Sisters 15 min wu, 1 mile time trial, 10 min cd
Th: 7 progression. Start slow and work down to 8:15-8:20
F: OFF
Sat: 12 miles
Sun: 30 min Elliptical
